Exclusive: Murata responds MLCC price adjustment

ESMC, in early July 2018, Murata manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as "Murata") issued a notice to adjust the price of MLCC.According to the Notice, in recent years, the demand of MLCC from communications and automotive markets has far exceeded the capacity of suppliers; due to the severe imbalance between supply and demand, supply shortage will worsen. To alleviate the situation and further improve the production capacity, Murata suggestscustomers not to use Murata NRND/EOL products in the new designs. In addition, the price adjustment will be applied for certain products.

Japanese MLCC 2500 order deadline in March next year, Yageo stock shortage lasts until 2019

Yageo CEO Chen Taiming said yesterday (5th) that MLCC industry has been chaotic for a long time, leading to withdrawal of the spontaneous production capacity expansion from the manufacturers in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan; while the price of MLCC products used on EVs are usually three to four times than that of 3C products, and the Japanese manufactueres would not regress to pick up the middle end markets. As a result, the demand and supply gap of MLCC will continue until 2019.
